Happy Saturday!
- I started my morning by rewatching the Captain Marvel movie. This is still an exciting and interesting movie to watch. It has action, sci-fi, mystery and a good story. For me, it answers questions while also leaving you with a few more. Carol Danvers lost years of her life while being a brainwashed Kree "hero" protecting the galaxy from skrulls. Thankfully, she kept having dreams or nightmares because it was her subconscious trying to clue her in to who she was.
I guess Yon-Rogg's reason for not killing Carol when he first found her, changed after she absorbed all that energy. He probably thought he found a new weapon that they could use in their non-stop ongoing war with the Skrulls. But after she was captured by Skrulls and they tapped into her memories, she was still confused by them but she couldn't ignore them. Were they real or fake?
Regardless, she was set on stopping the Skrulls that made it to Earth. What I love is that going to Earth made it so that she ended up uncovering the truth and regaining and understanding her memories. And like the hero she is, saved the day and planet. With the end credit scene bringing the story back to the present and to the next movie, Avengers: Endgame. Yeah, I just really love the Captain Marvel movie.

- I'm still not a fan of S.W.A.T. character Officer Victor Tan's girlfriend Olivia Navarro. She's a journalist but she has this sort of cutthroat slightly unethical vibe to her, because she just seems like she's mainly trying to make a name for herself. Ever since she was introduced back in the episode Family Man (season 7 episode 8), she gave off Taylor Kelly vibes (a TV Reporter on 9-1-1 who is also very unethical and cutthroat and trying to make a name for herself). In Family Man, Olivia was trying her best to get as close as she could to a dangerous hostage situation with off the grind militias. And surprisingly it worked in her favor because S.W.A.T. ended up using her help to get inside the compound. And she ended up getting Tan's attention so much he wanted to date her.
In her second episode Whispers (season 7 episode 11), she was found at a murder scene trying to retrieve something that her murdered fellow journalist had. What I found off putting was that the other reporter's body was still tied up in her home while Olivia was in that reporter's home searching through her things looking for whatever it was she was looking for. To me she didn't even care that the lady was dead, she was too set on retrieving something. Yes, there were dangerous guys looking for that same information but you would have thought she would have called 9-1-1 and reported the body, once she saw that the lady was tied up and dead. So, when S.W.A.T. showed up and caught her searching through the home, that left me not intrigued by the character or her ethics.
And in her most recent third episode Human Interest (season 8 episode 5), she was set on getting an interview with a known bad guy, The Bloodhound to try to get answers from him about missing student protesters that it didn't occur to her that he was in L.A. for another reason. A much deadlier reason in fact. So, while she was going to have her secret underground interview, The Bloodhound had a DEA Agent abducted in order to find a witness in protective custody. Yes, The Bloodhount abducting and torturing the DEA Agent isn't her fault but she had to have known that he didn't just go to L.A. for just an interview. And not even an interview that was going to be used to take him down. Yes, her effort to get answers from The Bloodhound about missing student protestors is commendable so that those students' family will have closure. But there was no guarantee that he would have even divulged that information. And who's to say he wouldn't have killed Olivia after the interview.
I'm trying to give Olivia, who is a recurring character a chance but she very much reminds of Taylor Kelly who I'm not a fan of. I will say that Olivia is not as cutthroat as Taylor is but she is definitely trying to make a name for herself. And I don't know if that's going to end up being a problem later on. I know uncovering the truth isn't always easy which is why I'm trying to give Olivia a chance, she does have good intentions. I tried with Taylor but in the end she proved to be just as awful as she was when she was in the first episode she introduced in on 9-1-1.
