Book Review: Through the Grinder

Book: Through the Grinder (Coffeehouse Mystery book #2) by Cleo Coyle

Description:

There's trouble brewing at the Village Blend. Business is booming — but Clare's customers are starting to die. Soon after stopping at the coffeehouse, a regular jumps to her death in the subway. Or was she pushed? Detective Quinn is convinced that someone has an axe to grind, especially after the "suicide" of another female customer. Unfortunately, his prime suspect is Bruce Bowman — the new man in Clare's life. Bruce is the perfect blend of rugged good looks and potent personality. Too bad the women in his life keep turning up dead. Now Clare will risk her heart — and her life — to follow the killer's trail to the bitter end...

Review:

I thought the story was good and it had an interesting mystery. However, I kind of figured out the murderer early in the book but I found the ending to be totally unexpected. I like that there were a lot of interesting characters throughout the book.

The premise of the story had several young women who seemingly died from accidents or possibly may have committed suicide. But the deaths seem to have a connection with a couple of the men that main character Clare Cosi met during her attempts to get back into dating again. Not wanting to believe that the guy she's dating could be the murderer, Claire decides to investigate and surprisingly drags along her ex-husband to find clues. They wind up in a few crazy situations that are also quite funny as well.

I like this series and look forward to reading another book from it.
