Book Review: The Return of the King

Book: The Return of the King (The Lord of The Rings #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien

Source: Library

Rating: 4 1/2 stars

Review:

This was a wonderful ending to the long tale of The Lord of the Rings. Like "The Two Towers", the first half of the story focused on Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Merry and Pippin as they continued the fight. The second half had Sam attempting to rescue Frodo who had been captured by the orcs in the second book. Sam was quite brave trying to save his good friend.

The Hobbits may have never thought of themselves as fighter but after all they went through, those four were just as heroic as the rest of the fighters. I enjoy all the interesting characters that were in the book, such as Lady Eowyn ready to take up the fight. She was not the typical maiden.

I like the ending, you got a nice farewell to each of the characters, especially with the Hobbits. This was a very good book. After reading the trilogy, now I really want to read "The Hobbit".

The Lord of The Rings was a very interesting series, I can see why there are so many loyal fans to this series. You get an amazing story with equally amazing characters set in a mystical land. I guess now you can add me as a fan as well.
