Book Review: Teen Titans Vol. #15: Prime of Life

Book: Teen Titans volume #15: Prime of Life written by J. T. Krul with illustrations by Nicola Scott (Issues #93-100)

Rating: 5 stars (This was very good)

Review:

I read the single issues not the trade edition. These were the last issues of Teen Titans before the series was rebooted for the new 52. The last issue marks the 100th issue of the series.

This volume included two fast-paced action packed stories, the first story (issues #93-97) had the team (Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Superboy, Kid Flash, Ravager, Beast Boy and Raven) heading to Pakistan on a missing persons case. The call for help came from Wonder Girl's mother, two of her colleagues have gone missing. The missing couples daughter Solstice (who was first seen in a special solo issue of a Wonder Girl comic book) joined the team as they looked for her parents. On a search for clues, the team (accompanied by Solstice and Wonder Girl's mom) come across a demon which has the team fighting a demon. This leads to two members of the search party captured and transported to another dimension.

The rest of the team followed and found themselves in a demonic world that was starting to effect Raven. Soon, they were on a fast moving search for the missing two and Solstice's parents. Their search was filled with non-stop pitfalls and demonic adversaries. Solstice played a key part in this story.

The second story had the team trying to stop Superboy-Prime who has also assembled his own evil team to fight against the Titans. Superboy-Prime, thinking the only way he can get back to his own dimensions was to kill Superboy, brought the fight to the team. He also had a few surprises in store for the heroes. But the heroes were more than ready for the fight with a little help from a few more Titans. As with so many last issues (prior to the reboot), it had the team reflecting on their future. I'm glad the series ended on a good note. Still wish this had not been canceled.

This had two great stories and great artwork. I love all the dynamics within the team, they were not just teammates they were a family as Red Robin stated in issue #93. They looked out for each other for the good or the bad. That's something I feel is truly lacking in the new 52 version of the Teen Titans series. It's the complete opposite, they don't like or respect each other and I can't even tell the reason why they are even on a team in the first place.

Again this was a wonderful ending to the series. Love it.
