Review:

Isn't that cover the cutest?

Oh, I really liked this book. Although, this is the second book in a series (I have not read the first book), it's written in a way that is easy to follow. I thought this book was just so cozy and I was immediately wrapped up in the story. Which is about Dr. Cyrus Mills, a scientist who came back to Eden Falls, VT to take over his late and estranged father's struggling veterinary business, Bedside Manor.

Not only is Cyrus trying to improve business at the vet but also has to deal with a rival national chain veterinary business called Healthy Paws, that's touting more modern technology compared to Cyrus' clinic.

But trying not to let that get him down, Cyrus does his best to help as many pets including farm animals that he can. He gets assistance from fellow Doctor Fielding Lewis.

And when he's not being the pet detective he's trying to figure out what's going on with his love life. He's sort of been seeing local waitress Amy (the girl of his dreams) who seems to have captured his heart. Unfortunately, for Cyrus a  handsome guy from Amy past has shown up and it's causing Cyrus to wonder if Amy really likes him or is about to dump him.

Cyrus is an interesting character because he's a bit of an introvert but he's trying to step out of his shell which doesn't always work out in the best way. I would say he's adorably quirky, he's a total science geek and has more interest in treating the pets than trying to deal with the pet parents who don't always get his quirks.

While he was trying to figure things out with Amy, Cyrus found himself in the middle of a fabricated dating situation after helping Gabe, a young hacker and his dog Tallulah. Gabe and his friend Charlize (or Charlie as she likes go by) devised a plan to get Charlie's mom a date and thought the doctor would be perfect for her. However, it turns out Charlie's mom is one of the veterinarians at Healthy Paws.

And not as if there wasn't already a lot going on, Cyrus found himself the new guardian of a dog named Stash who was a service dog.

I just love this book because it was charming, funny, emotional and full of heart. Cyrus sometimes reminded me on a less cranky and crass Dr. House because he was good at discovering what was ailing an animal. I actually like how all the characters were written even the jerky manger from Healthy Paws.

This story had a nice warm feel to it. I found this book to be really interesting and it kept my attention all the way through to the end. I like this so much I might see if I can find the first book because this really was a lovely story.
