Now, the most infamous Oz characters appear in Zenescope’s intense, dark, and daring re-imagining of the Oz mythos.

Rating: 4 stars

Review:

This is a prequel to the Grimm Fairy Tales: Oz story, that features short stories that focus on the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow, before they met Dorothy. There is also a short story about Toto when he was separated from the group during the Oz story.

Although the stories were short, they swept you into the lives of the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow as well as their stories truly showed how evil the wicked witches were. Toto's story added a bit of hope that the witches reign of terror would finally be over.

I think the artwork and color were really amazing. I had an issue with the Oz story with the way the clothing for the ladies were drawn. The clothing in this book was still a little skimpy but they were not as bad as with the Oz story.

This was a dark and intriguing group of stories and it makes me interested in wanting to read more about this version of Oz.
