Description:

This Halloween Charlie and Tommy have big plans. They hope they can get out of taking their little sisters around and go trick-or-treating in Alex's upscale neighborhood instead. There they'll get tons more candy, they'll be on their own, and afterwards they'll get to attend the sleepover at Alex's house. But when Charlie finds out that the entertainment at the party is to consist of the "Scariest Horror Movies Ever," he is struck by panic. Charlie loves candy, he loves sleepovers with his friends, but he absolutely hates horror movies.

There is yet another wrinkle in Charlie's Halloween plans. He is determined to win the big prize (ten movie tickets) that will be awarded for the best costume, but when he finally comes up with a genius prize-winning idea, he runs into an unexpected obstacle…

How will Charlie be able to enjoy Halloween this year?

Review:

For this Halloween, 9 years old Charlie Bumpers was going to do something different. Instead of going trick or treating with his little sister Mabel he was planning on going to his friend Alex’s Trick or Treating Sleepover. Also attending will be Charlie’s best friend Tommy along with Joey and Hector. Alex also invited Kyle the sort of wannabe tough kid who lives down the street from Alex (and because Alex's mother told him to).

Charlie was hoping that since Alex lived in a neighborhood with big houses he figured they would pass out more candy. And even though Charlie found out that they will be watching a scary movie at the sleepover (he doesn’t really like scary movies), he really wants to go.

Now if only his parents will let him.
Besides trying to see if his mom and dad will let him go Charlie is also excited about the school costume contest. He has the perfect costume and he thinks he can win. The winner will receive 10 tickets for the movie theatre.

In between trying to work on his costume, Charlie’s older brother Matt came up with an idea to help Charlie get over being scared of scary movies. He would tell him a scary story.
I thought this was a really funny story. The ending was great and I also love all the artwork throughout the story. This is a really good books for kids. It has the perfect Halloween feel to it.

I would recommend this for parents to get for their children, I think they will enjoy reading it.
