Review:

This started out slow moving and boring and I was on the verge of stop reading it but then it became this really interesting story. When you're the children of two of the world's greatest superheroes, forging you're own path is probably going to be hard to do. Which is pretty much the basis of this story.

Sheldon Sampson, a young man wanting to make a difference to save the United States with the onslaught of the depression in the 1930s had a dream or vision to travel to a mysterious island. Him and his crew which included his friend Grace and his brother Walter, somehow acquired superpowers and used them to help the struggling country and to stop emerging supervillains.

Fast-forward to the present and all the good that the first generation of superheroes did the next generation (their children) seemed to prefer being in the spotlight instead of being heroes. There's also a political element with Sheldon's brother Walter wanting to help improve things there but Sheldon who hero's code name is the Utopian doesn't think heroes should meddle with matters that don't concern them.

The Utopian's children Chloe and Brandon are a complete mess and when Walter approaches Brandon with a plan to get rid of his parents, he's eager to go through with it. Because with his parents out of the way it makes Brandon the perfect patsy for the uncle to use so he can go through with all his plans.

The one thing the world's greatest superheroes never saw coming was the coup to get rid of them and Chloe. However, Chloe was able to escape thanks to her boyfriend Hutch (the son of a former villain) before she was attacked. Now flash-forward several years into the future and you see how the world has faired which is not good. The reader also meets Chloe's son Jason as she's telling him the story of how her parents had got their powers.

The three of them now live in Australia trying to stay under the radar but Jason just can't help wanting to help others, he's made countless rescues despite knowing the danger. But that's what heroes do they help. Unfortunately, he's caught the eye of the so-called superheroes who have been rounding up and capturing heroes who have gone into hiding.

With Jason ambushed by the evil superheroes, Chloe came to his rescue which pretty much let the world know that the former train wreck who had been hiding was no longer going to sit back and let the world go to pieces. She's now grown into her powers and all the potential that her parents had wanted for her all along. With Hutch showing up to the scene it had the family needing to make a quick escape after they demolished the evil superheroes.

I like the ending although it's a cliffhanger but it showed that they were planning on taking the fight to the evil superheroes and maybe getting some help from the villains. I'm sure at some point in this series, Chloe and Brandon will be going up against each other, it will be interesting to see how that turns out? Because with Brandon being completely controlled by the uncle and Chloe now a person who is finally able to think for herself and do the right thing, it's going to be one impressive fight.

I'm glad I didn't stop reading this, I would have missed out on a good story, too bad it didn't start out that way. Besides the story, I also love the artwork it was simply amazing. I'm certainty looking forward to reading the second volume.
