Review:

Thomasina's life hasn't been the same since her parents died when she was five years old, since then she's been living with her grandmother Abuela (the name she prefers to go by), her aunt Veronica and uncle Billy and her two cousins Neil and Elizabeth. As a teenager, Thomasina prefers to be by herself and her only friend is her pet snake Sebastian.

One day, she woke up to find that her snake's tank had been broken. She quickly looked around but couldn't find him. As she searched the rest of the house she found four animals roaming around and she also found a guy sitting in the living room. He told her that he was Sebastian and that the animals were the rest of her family. Thomasina and her grandmother could not believe it, but after a while the truth started to sink in.

Sebastian said he knew how to the find out who was behind everything and soon him and Thomasina were off to figure how to fix this problem. Some how the duo wound up at her school leading them to her friend Smitty. Thomasina knows Smitty and there is no way he had anything to do with her family turning into animals. But Sabastian feels otherwise. Turns out the snake was right, Smitty is to blame. A spell he was practicing backfired. To fix his mistake, Thomasina and Smitty were soon heading off to the magical world that Smitty's from.

I really like this, there's a lot of laughs, kooky characters and adventure in this magical story with the underlying focus being family and friendship with a little hint of romance. This was fun but also a little sad as Thomasina was still dealing with the pain of losing her parents.
