Review:

How can a book make you laugh and tug on your heartstrings at the same time?

In the begining of these eight issues, Penelope "Punky" Brewster's life was filled with helping crooks and con artists as a way to survive living on the street. When a con goes bad, Punky along with her dog Brandon had to make a quick get away but it wasn't until they were caught trying to sleep in a store that she and Brandon were sent to Fenster Hall, a foster home for children.

At Fenster Hall, she found out she had a distant relative, Henry Warnimont. And when one of the foster home employees, Mike took her to see him, Henry was not too keen on the idea that he should be the one to care for her. Henery's a bit of a grouch and set in his ways and adding a 8 year old child to his life would only complicate it. But that not's going to stop Punky from trying her best to get him to change his mind.

If only the foster home wasn't trying so hard to find her a family to adopt her because the only person she wants to live with is Henry. But with the foster home and the legal system feeling as if Henry may not be the right person due to his age (he's only 50) and his job (he's a professional photographer and sometimes has to travel for work).

However, if anyone can change anyone's mind it's Punky and she's not going to give up especially not when she's made new friends Cherie Johnson and her grandmother Betty, Allen and even the snooty Margaux.

This was great, it doesn't matter if you're a fan of the original 1980's TV series or new to Punky Brewster this first volume is an absolute delight to read. It's very well written, be it from all the zany antics that Punky gets into to some of the heartrending scenes when she's trying so hard for everyone to understand why she wants only Henry to be the one to adopt her.

I love the artwork, it's so bright and colorful. This was simply fantastic and I do hope the series continues because I would love to read more from it.
