Review:

In book two of Hinges, Orio was getting use to living and working in Cobble city but unbeknownst to her trouble was brewing in regards to her odd Bauble. Odds are the familiars that are assigned to the  doll like people when they are activated.

When Bauble is taken by the authorities for being an unofficial odd (in fact they're not sure what he is), Orio had no choice but to try to get him back. But doing that would make it impossible for her to continue to live in Cobble city. After Orio rescued her little friend the two set out on the road. An unexpected discovery had them meeting another wanderer, Abernathy. He's another automaton like being who surprisingly lived in a similar city like Cobble. He left because he wanted to see what was outside his city.

I found that there were a lot of discoveries in this story and thanks to a paper tiger, the trio discovered something very interesting.

I love the artwork, it's beautiful and has a unique style. However, I didn't think this second book was as good as the first book. And that was mainly because at times I found some of the artwork and panels to be just a tad confusing. It made it a little difficult to see what was happening which made the story at times hard to follow.

Regardless, the story was still interesting and Orio and Bauble are still a joy to read about. Bauble continues to be a mystery but he adds so adorably mischievous. I like the addition of the new character Abernathy, he's very talkative where as Orio is shy and quiet.

Reading through this, I get the feeling that there is something under the surface or a big revelation that will happen at some point in this series. Because the art sometimes points the reader to random little things as if they're clues. Or perhaps I'm simply reading more into it. With the way this ended, I'm really looking forward to reading Book Three.
