Review:

I read the single issues instead of the trade edition shown.

Wow, this was really good. The story opens with two Green Lanterns being attacked somewhere out in space, meanwhile back on Earth Green Lanterns Guy Gardner and John Stewart were trying to figure out how to balance normal life on Earth with their duties as GL. Neither were faring too well on the normal department especially with trying to find a job (Guy) and dealing with corporate politics associated with the job (John). So, after they figured why bother they headed out to Oa but when they got there, they found several lanterns were murdered and missing.

Locating the missing lanterns lead to a devastating discovery, mass genocide on the planet Nerro. From there they set about trying to figure out was responsible for it. This story also uncovered something the Guardians probably didn't want known. What is it with those Guardians? They're always up to something and then it's up to the Green Lanterns to clean up the mess for them.

This story also had John having to do something really tough even if it's for the greater good but it's something most people would truly not want to do and issue #7 has John dealing with it afterwards.

Again, I thought this was great. It was well written and had a good story and it was filled with action and good art. The writing was just really good because despite this being a character filled series, none of the characters suffered from lazy writing. Each character had their own personalities and quirks and it felt like the writer took time to figure each one out and didn't take the easy way out by give everyone the same personality. Oh, and there is also a cameo appearance of the Martian Manhunter.

I'm still pleasantly surprised whenever I find a really good book in the New 52.
