Review:

I was utterly speechless at how awful this new take on the Teen Titans was (I have since dropped the series after issue #16). The writing for these seven issues was inconsistent, choppy and just downright horrible. I have mentioned in other posts how bad Scott Lobdell's writing is. It's simply atrocious, and yet and still he continues to be the darling of DC Comics and keeps getting offered more and more books to write.

I was also not fond of Brett Booth's artwork. I thought it was really terrible, all the characters basically had the same face and expressions.

The story finds Red Robin (Tim Drake) trying to stop this shadowy group N.O.W.H.E.R.E. who are going around abducting metahuman teenagers. The first person he tries to help is Cassandra Sandsmark (Wonder Girl) who has been going around stealing and getting on N.O.W.H.E.R.E.'s radar. Next they go about trying to help Celine (Skitter). Later, after parting with Cassie, Tim in a disguise taking a trip on a freight train with the immobilized Skitter, meets Miguel (Bunker) who was traveling to try to find Red Robin. While that was going on Cassie was trying to get some information from one of the guys hired by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to try to abduct Skitter. Meanwhile, Kid Flash (Bart Allen) and Solstice are escaping from one of the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. facilities when they some how end up at Tim's New York City apartment all thanks to Danny the Street (who believe it or not is actually a Metahuman street).

As Red Robin, Skitter, Kid Flash, Bunker and Solstice get situated in Tim's apartment, minor and ridiculous arguments ensue such as Tim yelling at Bart over a sweatshirt, Cassie meanwhile was in Time Square getting ready to fight Superboy who was sent by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to bring her in. The rest of the team showed up to help her.

Once the fight was over, Superboy after talking with Solstice then taking out the team, ended up leaving and heading back to N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to get answers from them. With the battle over, the team needed to get Kid Flash some medical help and take him to a S.T.A.R. Labs facility where they get help from Virgil Hawkins (Static) who was interning there. Virgil's appearance is this story doesn't seem to go with the version that was in his own (cancelled) series. He seemed really erratic.

While Virgil was trying to help Kid Flash; Bunker and Wonder Girl found themselves dealing with Grymm, a metahuman detainee of S.T.A.R. Labs who used his power to take over Skitter to free him. After helping Kid Flash, the group was off to save Superboy from N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

With help from Danny the Street, the group arrived (albeit separately) at the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. facility. Kid Flash, Bunker and Skitter rescued Superboy while Cassie was taking on a N.O.W.H.E.R.E. agent and Red Robin was trying to get secret files from the facility, although he was interrupted by Solstice who was looking for answers from Red Robin.

This ends with the group (minus Solstice) being stopped by Harvest, the guy who created  N.O.W.H.E.R.E..

This was really, really awful. The story was poorly written and the characters were not interesting at all. Tim Drake was turned into a heartless jerk while Cassie (Don't Call Her Wonder Girl) could barely muster up any energy to care about anything. Bunker despite his enthusiasm felt like a stereotypical cliché and there wasn't much of a personality shown for Skitter and Solstice. And last but not least, Superboy was a jerk as well.

I still have no idea why they are even part of a team. There was nothing that made me care about these characters. It left me bored and slightly annoyed that poorly written stories like this actually get published.

Teen Titans was one of my favorite series but the new 52 version is a awful interpretation. I gave this series a chance because I thought it would be a new and interest take but this was really bad.
