Read-a-thon book 4 review: This Pen for Hire

Book: This Pen for Hire (A Jaine Austen Mystery book #1) by Laura Levine

Review:

This Pen for Hire was funny but after awhile I started to get a little tired of the self-decrepitating humor that the main character Jaine Austen kept saying about herself. I guess it's been a while since I've read a book from this series but I don't remember it being filled with so much belittling humor.

The story is about thirty-something Jaine Austen who is a freelance writer and when one of her latest clients a shy and rather geeky guy Howard Murdoch ask her to write a love letter to hopefully get him a date with Stacy Lawrence, an aerobic instructor at a ultra exclusive gym.

Good news the letter worked Howard now had a date with Stacy for Valentine's day unfortunately the bad news is Howard was arrested for her murder. Jaine not believing that Howard was responsible for Stacy's murder set about trying to prove it.

Jaine had her work cut out for her because there were plenty of people who could have killed Stacy. Even though the book had an interesting twist but as a bit of a mystery buff I sort of figured out who the killer was.

I enjoyed this fast paced book, it was an easy read and when the jokes weren't too self-decrepitating they were funny.
