Review:
This really was a fun read. As I was reading Naked Heat it wasn't hard to imagine the characters from the TV series Castle as the characters in the book especially since Richard Castle was shadowing Detective Kate Beckett for research for his book series.
In this thrilling mystery, Detective Nikki Heat found herself trying to uncover the mystery of who killed the well known gossip columnist Cassidy Towne. She also found herself working yet again with writer Jameson Rook who had surprisingly been writing an article on the vicious and cutthroat columnist. But Nikki had no desire to see Rook since she was still dealing with the fallout from his last article which was a profile on her instead being focused on the entire detective team.
But Detective Heat was willing to over look him and her feelings for him to focus on the case which was starting to become even more difficult to solve especially since someone stole the body before it could reach the medical examiner's office. That left Detective Heat and Rook along with fellow Detectives Sean Raley and Miguel Ochoa scrambling to try to find not only the body but who was behind a rising body count surrounding this mystery.
Naked Heat was such a fast paced exciting story that left me wondering who wrote it. Was it the writers for the show? Or possibly ABC got James Patterson (the book definitely had a Patterson feel to it) or some other writer to pen it?
Who knows, but it was a really good book. I also enjoyed the growing romance between Heat and Rook as well as hints of romance between Ochoa and Medical Examiner Dr. Lauren Parry.
