Millionaire ad executive Landon Downey has a policy: no romantic relationships allowed. So when he's saddled with his six-year-old nephew for a week, he doesn't think twice about asking Kimber Reynolds to act as live-in nanny. What he doesn't expect is the undeniable attraction to the woman he hasn't seen since they were kids. And not only does she like him back-she suggests they work their way down a list of extracurricular activities in the bedroom. How can he resist?

Kimber wants to prove once and for all that she can love 'em and leave 'em with the best of them. All she has to do is keep her sixteen-year crush on Landon out of the equation. No problem . . . until she realizes she may not be the only one whose heart has gotten completely tangled up in their no-strings agreement.

Review:

Well, I was expecting this to be a light and breezy story but instead it was so boring and predictable. The plot of the story revolves around 37 years old Landon Downey, a workaholic Advertising Executive who was having a hard time watching his six years old nephew Lionel 'Lyon'. But when his sister Angel suggested he hire a nanny he reluctantly agreed. He wasn't quite sure about hiring someone to take care of Lyon but Angel said she knew the perfect person, her friend Kimber.

Kimber Reynolds, 32 years old, co-owns a vintage clothing store called Hobo Chic with Mick, her ex-boyfriend and in need of some extra money to buy Mick's half of the store, she takes the nanny job (after being convinced by Angel to do it).

This is one of those instant attraction/love type stories where they like each other but try not to show it.

But once things started to "heat up" between them, a twist to the plot is added on. For me, the best part of the story was when Kimber was taking care of Lyon but once that little plot device left the story (he was only staying with his uncle for a week) the story became even more boring. Hard to believe the story could get any more boring.

For some reason, I really couldn't connect with the characters. The only character I thought the author did a wonderful job with was Lyon. He was simply adorable and a total Superman fan (like myself) but the other characters were a little flat and one dimensional. There was no personality at all with these characters. They could practically be exchanged with any other character from any other clichéd romance novel and the change would not make a difference.

Landon Downey had recently got out of a relationship with a supermodel that did not end well. He is also still affected by an incident from a relationship he had back in college. He's a bit cold and elusive and doesn't want to get emotionally involved with anyone. I wish he was more interesting but there was nothing for the reader to find out about him.

I think what annoyed me about Kimber was the minute she received that first phone call from Landon (to talk about the nanny position) she immediately turned into a love sick teenager who couldn't think straight. That continued with her for most of the story. I get it, she's had a crush on Landon since she was in the 10th grade but she's not a teenager anymore.

Also, it's hard to believe Kimber would stay away from her business for a week. Even if she had employees she could trust to run her business, she was still leaving it up to others to do it.

Okay, one more annoyance I had with Kimber, was she was going to let Lyon watch Man of Steel. Who would let a six years old watch such a violent movie? Maybe that's just me nitpicking but that just stood out to me.

It's been a while since I've read a boring romance novel and this takes the cake with being extremely boring.
