Book Review: Persy and the Prince

Book: Persy and the Prince by Jane Myers Perrine

Source: Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review

Publication: Available now

Description:

Persy Marsh is as quirky and feisty as she is beautiful. Born into a wealthy family and raised for the good life, she walked away from it all to help others in her local Texas community—and to just be herself. Taking on any job she can land at the glamorous Gulf Prince Hotel, Persy’s just trying to make ends meet and live on her own terms.

Jordan Prince is the no-nonsense scion of the Prince family and heir to the vast family hotel chain. Stiff and formal, he carries himself with upright rectitude and expects his employees to do the same. When Persy makes one misstep too many and crosses the line, Jordan decides he must take disciplinary action—until he looks at her and a completely different kind of action comes to mind.

Locked in a battle of wits and fighting an undeniable attraction, Jordan must decide whether he can let down his guard and open his heart to this infuriatingly outspoken woman, and Persy, the Cinderella who chose to walk away from the ball, might just discover that not all riches are bad, especially when they come in the form of a heart of gold.

Review:

I absolutely, positively LOATHE this book.

It's beyond words how much I despise this book. The best part of the story was the premise (above), there is nothing remotely likeable about the characters or the story.

Jordan Prince is a complete arrogant pretentious jerk who thinks just because he's handsome that Persy Marsh should just let him take advantage of her and he doesn't seem to understand the word no. That doesn't make for a charming love interest. Case in point after their crappy first date, he took her somewhere lousy because he didn't really want to be seen with her because she might embarrass him, they went to the beach and after a kiss he expected her to have sex with him. However, when she objected to his advances he made her feel bad and what does she do, she apologizes. Then he didn't even have the decency to take her back  home she had to walk back alone. What a complete tool. I really can't stand when characters are written like this. There is no way she should still have any feelings or attraction towards him after that but she does and for some reason he likes her but acts like a jerk the next day at work.

Persy came from a rich family but didn't want anything to do with that life anymore so she started working various odd jobs at the hotel and try to help people in the poorer community where she lives. She was working at the hotel Gulf Prince as a dog walker when she met Jordan who is the manager. They got off to a rocky start, he didn't think employees were supposed to be seen in the lobby especially a lowly dog walker and called her into his office. But instead of getting fired he asked her out on a date. So even though he thought Persy was some poor uneducated person he asked her out but only because he thought her body was attractive. He had no real interest in getting to know her he just wanted to hook up with her. Persy is shown as a happy go lucky dimwit despite being this supposed smart character.

I had no desire to finish this book to see if it turns into a better story. This was a complete waste of time and I refused to force myself to read any more of it.
