Book Review: Sensation Comics featuring Wonder Woman #2

Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #2

Book: Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #2 by various writers and artists

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

I thought both stories were good. They were both very well-written and loved the artwork.

1st story: "Taketh Away" by Ivan Cohen with illustrations by Marcus To and color by Andrew Dalhouse

In this story, Diana after appearing on a political talk show starts to experience trouble with her powers and not to mention finding something odd and rather slimy about the host. It didn't take long before Diana's powers were starting to fade making it very difficult for her to not only stop a shooter at a hospital but to deal with the vicious Cheetah.

Things just were not making any sense, there was no reason why her powers should be failing her. However, it wasn't until Diana met up again with the TV host that she was able to put the pieces together. This story was interesting because it had Diana seeing herself in a new way but still being who she really is.

2nd story: "Brace Yourself" by Jason Bischoff with illustrations by David Williams and color by Wendy Broome

This story takes place back on Themyscira when Diana was a little girl. It's narrated by Queen Hippolyta as she shows how determined the young Princess was at trying to acquire her second bracelet. And the only way to get the second one is through combat and the only person who she can challenge is her mother, the Queen. For years Diana would come up with different ways to try to attack the Queen but nothing worked.

Over the years Queen Hippolyta saw how Diana had changed, her desire for the bracelet had changed into something even more profound. No longer was she doing things for childish pursuits and when the time came for Diana to take on a new challenge, it was a little hard for the Queen to let her go. But when it was all said and done, Hippolyta knew that the Princess was ready to become who she was intended to be.

Both of these stories showed why Wonder Woman is one of my favorite characters. They showed her compassion and strength, her intelligence, wisdom and determination. I love that she doesn't feel the need to be anyone other than who she is and she also doesn't sit back and not help those in need.
