Book of Interest: Wonder Woman: The Official Cookbook

Happy Friday!

I love fandom cookbooks and trying some of the recipes that are inspired by the book, movie, show or characters. Some of the ones that I have are:

- Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook by Elena Craig and Kristen Mulrooney (I still want to get Gilmore Girls: Sookie's Recipe Book)
- I also have the three Eat Like a Gilmore unofficial cookbooks by Kristi Carlson:
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Gilmore Girls
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: Daily Cravings
    - Eat Like a Gilmore: Seasons
- Black Panther The Official Wakanda Cookbook by Nyanyika Banda with foreword by Jesse J. Holland
- The Nancy Drew Cookbook: Clues to Good Cooking by Carolyn Keene (I found this one at a thrift store)
- The Anne of Green Gables Cookbook: Charming Recipes from Anne and Her Friends in Avonlea by Kate Macdonald

And now, I've been thinking of getting the Wonder Woman: The Official Cookbook by Briana Volk. What I found interesting is that this cookbook has only vegetarian recipes. I guess there's so much information about the characters that it's easy to not know something. Because I didn't realize Diana was vegetarian. I know Poison Ivy is vegetarian (or vegan) but it never knew that about Diana. Well, I guess you learn something new everyday. I'm interested to see what recipes are in the book. Are they more Greek inspired or just generic recipes with Wonder Woman related names added on?

I remember how excited fans were for the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Especially when this picture of the characters: Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman from the movie were on the cover of Entertainment Weekly's July 2015 Special Comic-Con Double issue.

I'll be honest I wasn't that thrilled about seeing Batman v Superman especially after my disappointment after watching the movie Man of Steel. And not to mention the trailer for Batman v Superman didn't really sell me, however the teaser trailer initially did. Yet, there was something about this movie I was still excited to see and that was Wonder Woman. This was going to be the character's first appearance in a big screen live-action movie. And I couldn't wait to see it. But once I did, yeah, it was not the best.

Fans had been waiting for years to finally see these three characters on the big screen together. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice should have been The Superhero movie instead all that potential was wasted. I will say the theatrical version of this movie had moments where it was good but it felt like they were trying to do too much in one movie. And edited out things that should have been included which is why I prefer the extended version of the movie. It's much better even though there is still too much happening but this version added more to the story. Anyway, I still love this cover photo from the magazine, I found the textless version to post.

Most Memorable Scene: Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman vs Doomsday

I may have my issues with Batman v Superman but I have to say I did find the fight between the DC Trinity (Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman) vs Doomsday to be very interesting. It was very exciting and action-packed. Despite having issues with each other, the trio did work pretty well together.

It's been a while since I've seen this movie but I do believe this was the first time in the movie we saw Wonder Woman. Because earlier in the movie that was just Diana who had long given up on humanity and had no desire to fight any more. But thankfully she returned because otherwise Batman would have been killed by Doomsday before Superman could get there. It goes without saying that Superman made the ultimate sacrifice to stop Doomsday. But as with comic book stories, that wasn't the end of Clark or Superman's story.

Side note, I love how this fight centers Wonder Woman and not to mention her theme song by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL is mostly played throughout the scene.

Books I Want to Read (But Just Haven't Bought Yet):

This week's group of books are comic books and graphic novels. First, is a Princess Azula one-shot/stand-alone Avatar: The Last Airbender story. Second, is the fifth volume of Heartstoppers and last is the first volume of Wonder Woman by George Pérez. All three are books that I really want to read.

Fashion Meets Comics: Diana Prince (DC Super Hero Girls)

It's been a while since I've watched DC Super Hero Girls animated series but I always liked the really cute outfit Diana Prince wore when she's wasn't her superhero alter ego Wonder Woman. I always thought it would be a cute look for fall. I would describe her outfit as nerdy preppy casual. Her outfit was a cozy red sweater over a white button down shirt paired with a blue or denim skirt. It's a very cute and comfy look that was perfect for school or anywhere else.

Most Memorable Scene: Wonder Woman stopping crooks at the Mall (Wonder Woman 1984)

Although Wonder Woman 1984 is not considered a fan favorite but I really love watching this movie. I love this scene of Wonder Woman stopping thieves at the mall. It was fun and colorful and action packed but what I also love that this scene had a lot of humor in it as well as several scenes throughout the movie. Even though she destroyed the surveillance cameras, I do wonder if maybe there was a camera or two that didn't get destroyed and there was some footage of her that was still captured on film.

I haven't posted an On My List in a while, so I wrote a little one. First, is a book that's been on my bookshelf that I haven't read. Second is a TV show I want to rewatch and last is a movie I want to rewatch. What's on your list?


A Book on my Bookshelf that I Haven't Read:

Yesterday, I was looking through one of my bookcases and found Star Wars: Scoundrels at the back of one the shelves. I forgot I had this and definitely want to read it. It's a book that centers on Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, how could I have forgotten about this book. I've moved it to the front of the shelf, so I'll see it and hopefully it'll remind me to read it soon.

Fandom Friday: Random Fandom Thoughts #29: Robert Nash, Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Alexis Castle and Hayley Shipton

Happy Friday! What fandom thoughts are on your mind? Well, here are some of mine:

- I rewatched the 9-1-1 sixth season mid-season finale episode Red Flag and I was looking at the fire that the 118 put out and it really looks like some one only set a certain section of a grassy area on fire. I do wonder if that couple that Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash is suspicious of perhaps killed his sponsor Wendell and set a fire to get rid of any evidence on the body that showed he had been murdered. And they left drug paraphernalia near the body so it makes it seem as if Wendell overdosed but that still doesn't explain the fire and how the area caught fire. Especially since the fire was in a residential area and not out in the woods. When I first watched the episode when it originally aired (Monday, Nov. 28th), the couple asking Bobby questions about the fire after it was put out immediately set off red flags (hence the title of the episode).

To me as the viewer, the fire seemed suspicious and to Bobby as well and I don't think the Police Detective assigned to the case is going to really look into Wendell's death. Because according to Bobby's wife Police Sergeant Athena Grant, the detective stated that the area where the fire was and where Wendell's body was found is a known area for drug users. Which makes me think that the detective isn't going to make too much of an effort to really investigate Wendell's death. They'll probably write it down as a overdose. But then how do you explain the fire because if he some how died from an overdose, how did the fire start? See this is probably why Bobby is going to take it upon himself to investigate Wendell's death and the couple he thinks may be behind it since the police probably won't really look into it. I'm really interested to see how this story is going to unfold in the second half of the season.
