Review:

Don't Stay Up Late was a quick read that had 16 years old Lisa Brooks going through one ordeal after another. First with a terrible car accident that claimed the life of her father the accident also left her with a concussion and her mother injured and unable to work.

Lisa's recovery wasn't going as smoothly because she was having some difficulties sorting through the side effects of her injury, she was experiencing hallucinations. To help with the healing process Lisa's doctor suggested she return back to school and even recommended her for a job as a babysitter.

The job turned out to be even better than she thought since she only needed to watch 8 years old Harry for a few days and his mother was willing to pay her a very substantial amount. That was perfect since Lisa and her mother were a little short on money since the accident.

Things didn't seem to be going too bad for her although she was still seeing things but she was trying to get her life back to normal by hanging out with her friends Saralynn and Isaac and her boyfriend Nate.

However, once she started seeing monsters no one believed her, even when two kids from her school had been murdered everyone thought she was just having hallucinations or becoming unstable. Even she was starting to wonder if she was really was losing it because monsters aren't real, right?

This was a fun and easy to read story that will have the reader trying to figure out if what Lisa is seeing is real or not. It's more geared towards older middle grade readers to young adults due to a bit of horror. This book is a classic R.L. Stine read.
