Review:

I really could not connect with this story. It was very slow moving almost to the point I was starting to wonder if this really was a mystery book.

The story centers around 30 years old Hayden Mundy Moore who is a freelance Chocolate Whisperer or chocolate problem solver. She's still dealing with her near death experience and mystery solving from the first book. As a way to try to get over that ordeal she had plans to fly out and visit her financial advisor Travis Turner in Seattle but she was promptly reminded that she had her friend's engagement party to attend in Portland, Oregon. Her good friend Carissa Jenkins was going to marry Declan Murphy.

Hayden was meeting up with her friend at a local food cart hub because Carissa was opening up a scientifically improved ice cream cart. But a surprise occurred a little while later, Declan was found dead. His death was ruled an accident but Hayden thought otherwise and decided to investigate.

Besides being there for her friend, Hayden was asked by Carissa to launch Declan's Chocolate-After-Dark tour. It was something that he had worked so hard putting together.

I couldn't stand the way this was written, it's told from Hayden's point of view and she can not focus. Her thought pattern skips from one thing to the next which doesn't make for a easy flow story telling.

The description made this seem so interesting but I was underwhelmed by the bland and forgettable characters as well as the story. The mystery is pretty much non-existent and takes forever before it got started. I decided not to finish reading this, I stopped caring about what was going on and if Hayden would solve the mystery.
