Review:

I thought this one was even better than the first one. It was exciting with dramatic action as the trio tries to solve their latest mystery.

The Mystery of the Zorse's Mask has horse trainer Caleb Hunter showing up to claim Zed the zorse. For the past six months Becca and her mother Renee have been taking care of Zed at their animal sanctuary, he had been found in bad condition with signs of abuse. Becca had become very fond of Zed and didn't want the zorse to leave but when Caleb showed proof of ownership, her and her mother had no choice but to let the beloved animal go. Caleb said the zorse named Domino is his grandmother's but she is in poor health and he was hoping that bring Domino back will make her feel better. He said that Domino had gotten loose after his grandmother had been rushed to the hospital.

However, just as Becca and her mom were preparing Zed to leave, a problem came up. Caleb had asked for the fly mask that Zed had been wearing when he was brought to the sanctuary, but unfortunately it was no where to be found.

It almost seemed as if Caleb was more interested in getting the mask back than the zorse, in fact he wasn't going to leave town until the mask was found. Turns out it had been accidently given away to a thrift store. Becca had a bright idea to try to find the mask as a good will gesture as perhaps a way that Caleb might let her keep Zed or at least be able to see him. With that idea in place, Kelsey, Leo and Becca with arrangements from a friend who works at the thrift store, went there while the store was closed to see if they could find it. But all the trio found was someone trying to break in the store. Kelsey found a clue at the scene but does the attempted break in have anything to do with the mask or total coincidence?

Becca's store contact helped them again by directing them to who purchased the item but once they were able to talk to the person it was already gone. From there, they were one step closer to finding the lost mask but it was going to take some ingenuity to get it back.

That was just the begin of the mysteries in this book including could Leo's new friend be spying on the Curious Cat Spy Club? Is Caleb really who he says he is? Why is he so interested in getting that mask back?

I like that in this very well written sequel you can see Kelsey, Becca and Leo's friendship start to grow beyond just finding missing animals and solving mysteries. They are learning a lot more about each other.

This story includes a few daring action scenes that has Kelsey going the extra mile to not only retrieve the fly mask but to help keep Zed safe.

I really like this series, it's a fun and exciting read with very likeable characters. The author does a great job with giving each character their own voice and personality. I really look forward to reading more from this wonderful mystery series.
