In the wake of “Batman R.I.P.”and BATTLE FOR THE COWL, Stephanie Brown, the vigilante formerly known as The Spoiler and Robin has taken on the identity of Batgirl as she begins her nocturnal crusade to take back the night from the underworld. Review:

I didn't read the trade edition, I read the individual issues. I thought the role of Batgirl was perfect for Stephanie because she was getting a second chance after a few mistakes as the Spoiler. As much as I adore Cass, Steph brought a little bit of fun back to the Batfamily and to Gotham which was surely missing.

Vol 1 gave the readers a chance to see Steph juggling being a college student and being a vigilante. And even though she made mistakes, as Batgirl she showed that she would not give up. I love her inner dialog when she was going up against the Scarecrow, despite the beating and the fear toxin Steph just wouldn't give up. Plus, you get Damian Wayne/Robin being as annoying as possible when he begrudgingly teams up with Steph and Barbara Gordon taking on the role of mentor to the new Batgirl.
