Sunday Summary: March 17th

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I really needed that break from reading, it was nice to take a little break. But now it's back to reading, the new book I just started is "The Meanest Doll in the World" by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin. It features really amazing illustrations from Brian Selznick. I'll post the description in my Currently Reading post in a few seconds. At first I couldn't decide if I wanted to read "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", The Meanest Doll or "The Wind in the Willow". Of course I decided to go with the Doll book (since I already mentioned it above) but I do plan to read the other two books sometime later.

Lately, I've been really surprised that I haven't read a bad book in a while. Perhaps I'm getting better at choosing good books or there seems to be more really good books out there. Either way it sucks to read a horrible book.

This morning I watched "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" on ABC Family. If it wasn't for all the deleted or additional scenes I wouldn't bother watching it on TV. There were way too many commercials to sit through. The sixth movie had Harry starting to fall for Ginny but it wasn't very believable unlike Hermione's growing feelings for Ron. Harry and Ginny's romance felt forced and in the book it just felt like it happened out of the blue with Harry all of a sudden starting to like Ginny. Some of the fans even thought Harry's feelings came from the love potion he was smelling. Their romance just didn't feel genuine, well at least to me.

Anyway, that's the only thing that annoyed me about that movie (and the book). It's been some years since I've read the Harry Potter series and I was thinking about going back to reread them. It would be interesting to see if my opinions have changed or stayed the same. Since I have so many other books sitting on my shelves, I'll probably wait to give them a reread.

Well, I'm off to have some lunch (well after I post my Currently Reading post).

I hope everyone has a good day.
