Book: An Uplifting Murder (Josie Marcus, Mystery Shopper book #6) by Elaine Viets
Rating: 2 stars
Review:
I found this to be okay. The mystery felt like it was going nowhere and seemed tediously long and even the red herring couldn't help this story. Unfortunately, Josie's mystery skills were not at top form in this story, she was missing key details and kept accusing the wrong people. I thought the best parts were Josie's interaction with her family, friends, new boyfriend Ted and the family's pets. I found Josie's difficulties with her nosey bossy neighbor Ms. Mueller to be more entertaining than the mystery. These relationships kept the story interesting.
In the story, while Josie was mystery shopping an upscale lingerie store, she ran into her former teacher, Mrs. Laura Hayes as well as a former classmate/mean girl, Francine "Frankie" Martin. After Frankie's confrontations with several of the customers and staff at the lingerie store, she was found (by Josie) murdered in the mall's women's restroom. After Josie's former teacher was arrested, Josie decides to help her by trying to find the real killer.
This was fast paced but I just wished the mystery solving had moved along as fast.
