Is Technology Making Us Dumb?

The other night I watched a documentary that asked the question, Is technology making us dumb? I found it intriguing because many of the experts were saying that many have lost the ability for deep thinking because now instead of taking time to think up solutions to problems we just go online and find the quick answer.

I found that interesting because people are so dependent on their devices that we are no longer living in the moment. For instance, we're taking pictures of everything but are we really taking time to enjoy what we're seeing.

It's a little funny that one of the top reasons according to the documentary, most people don't get a second date is because they were so consumed with their phone or other device that they didn't focus on trying to get to know the other person. That's something to think about.

Technology might be making us a little dumber (through dependency) but it's also making us lazy. Kids are spending a lot of time sitting inside playing video games and watching TV instead of going outside and play. We can now watch any TV show or movie we want to, when ever we want to.

Watching that documentary really just made me think about how much tech we really use as a society. If all this tech was around in the past, we probably wouldn't have all the beautiful artwork and wonderful books that were created back then, not to mention all the discoveries. I don't know it just made me think about how technology has changed things, some for good but others I'm not so sure.
