The artwork for the regular cover is by Greg Land and it's very poorly done. Hello, what happened to Spider-Woman's legs as well as Silk's waist.
And below is the art for the variant cover by Milo Manara that is both extremely awful and truly sexist. And to make it even worse, Manara is known for creating erotic artwork. So, it makes you wonder why would Marvel hire him to create a cover for this series?
I really hate to even comment on this but it can't be helped. Who over at Marvel authorized both of these covers for the new Spider-Woman comic book series really need to rethink that decision. The news that Spider-Woman a.k.a. Jessica Drew is getting her own title should be good news but the cover art is down right bad. It's so bad it's overshadowing the good news. The new series will be available in November and will be written by Dennis Hopeless.
This series will also have Spider-Woman teaming up with Silk a.k.a. Cindy Moon.
As interested as I was in this series, that artwork has me thinking about marking this as a book of disinterest. I couldn't see myself picking up either cover especially not that variant one.
Marvel Comics, just so you know, this is not a good way to attract more female readers. Which by the way is their goal.
