In the aftermath of the shooting, LA Special Trials prosecutor Rachel Knight teams up with her best girlfriend, LAPD detective Bailey Keller. As Rachel and Bailey interview students at the high school, they realize that the facts don’t add up. Could it be that the students suspected of being the shooters are actually victims? And if so, does that mean that the real killers are still on the loose?

Review:

In this fourth book, District Attorney Rachel Knight along side her friend and Detective Baily Keller investigated a horrific school shooting. Just when they thought the case was over before it started with the suspects having believed killed themselves, evidence proved that the bodies were not the suspects. They had somehow pulled off the ultimate fake death and was now in the wind.

This trying and heartrending case was going to take all that Rachel could muster to see this to the end, if it doesn't get her killed. Even though this story is more intense and more graphic compared to the other three books there is still moments for Rachel to hang out with her two best friends as well focus on her relationship with her boyfriend Lieutenant Graden Hales. There's also still mentions of food and fashion.

For those who have read the second book, Guilt by Degrees there is an interesting twist included in this book.

It seems like with each book the author gets a little better with writing because this maybe the best one so far. It's well written and there doesn't seem to be too much unnecessary excess like in the first two books. The author definitely stepped up her game with this one. It was a very good read.
