Was Jane Foster the wrong love interest for the Thor movies?

Thor has been known to have romanced many ladies in the comics including Jane Foster and Lady Sif so it stands to reason why Jane was chosen over so many others. Especially when they had the perfect choice already being Lady Sif.

The biggest problem I have with Jane being the love interest was there was no romantic chemistry between her and Thor. I wonder how different the first movie would have been had Thor and Jane parted as friends. As wonderful as I think movie-verse Jane Foster is, she was more buddy than love interest. Even though I think Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth are good actors even they couldn’t muster up any chemistry between their two characters. They had a great friendship vibe going on but no romance.
However, it’s a different story between Sif and Thor because although their scenes were sparse you can see the emotions between them although with the romance aspect appearing slightly one-sided with Sif wearing her heart on her armored sleeve for Thor. For some reason the chemistry (albeit friendship only although a potential for romance) seems to be easier between Hemsworth and Jaimie Alexander whereas with Portman the romance seemed forced.

I think it would have been so awesome had someone on the set of the first movie pointed out the lack of chemistry between Thor and Jane and decided to just make them friends because it would have saved Jane from turning into a partial plot device in the second movie. Thor’s love interest should have then been changed to Lady Sif.

Hands down Jane and Sif are both awesome. I love that Jane is smart, capable and unapologetically in love with science. And that Sif is every bit the Asgardian warrior that she is said to be as well as being smart, tough, fierce and loyal.

The first two movies make it so obvious that Jane and Thor were a poor match and every time I see that scene in the second movie where Sif ask Thor to take a drink with her and he refuses it makes no sense. Other than friendship it’s hard to see that Jane made that much of an impact on Thor that it would cause him to mope around for two years.
It's been rumored (which you can take with a grain of salt) that Thor and Jane will be broken up in the third movie. Even if that rumor turns out to be true that doesn't mean that Lady Sif will become Thor's new love interest. Because if those in charge at Marvel Studios have their hearts set on Thor and Jane being together, that means that no matter what, it's going to happen. And despite Sif having all this amazing chemistry with Thor most likely nothing will happen between the two of them. And if it did, Sif would probably be a rebound until Thor ends back up with Jane, and Sif is far too awesome a character for that to happen.

Hell yeah of course Jane was the wrong girl for Thor. It should've been Sif.

The chemistry between Thor and Jane was so bad that you could even argue that Thor had more chemistry with Loki than with her.
