Review:

The Job makes me think of Castle meets White Collar meets Fast Five meets The A-Team (TV series) but not as properly executed.

This started out interesting with FBI Agent Kate O'Hare being called in to re-capture notorious con man Nick Fox. Several high profile thefts have been pulled off by Nick but Kate knew it wasn't him for two reasons: 1) he was working with her to help bring down other criminals and wasn't going to jeopardize his arraignment and 2) the crook was making it too obvious and that's not Nick's style.

After traveling to several cities around the world, Kate finally caught the thief but it wasn't an open and shut case. The thief was committing the crimes to get Nick's attention because they needed his help to bring down Lester Menedez, a ruthless killer and drug lord whose has been hiding from authorities.

That left Kate and Nick to devise the ultimate con to bring in Lester Mendez but the plan has a few problems. First, due to plastic surgery they have no idea what Lester looks like now. Second, they have no idea what assume name he is going by. Kate and Nick brought in a crew and also enlisted Kate's dad Jake, a former military man to assist them. Jake also brought in a couple of guys from his old crew for additional help.

The problem with this book was it didn't seem finished. Most of the characters lacked any development and depth, the bare minimum of information was given. There was an attraction between Kate and Nick but the story only teases their feelings for each other. Since he's a crook and despite his help to the FBI, Kate is apprehensive to move past a few kisses.

This wasn't a bad read but some of the writing and scenes sort of dragged at times making the plot seem boring, weak and not thought out. The plot felt slow in some areas while rushed in the others. I also feel like there was too much attention paid to giving the reader unnecessary information that it slowed the story down. The humor in the story was good but I found myself wanting to know more about some of the characters in the crew they brought on. What was the point of including them in the story if they were barely shown.

What makes all those shows and movies I listed at the beginning of this review so great is they know how to make a great con story work and sadly this one didn't deliver. It's a easy read but it lacked fun and excitement and great story telling. It was quite repetitive.
