Review:
The description called this a fun and breezy mystery and it was right, this really was.
Written in first person, Model Undercover: New York follows 16 year old Londoner Axelle Anderson who uses her job as a model to solve fashion crimes. In this story Axelle was asked by Cazzie Kinlan, the Editor-in-Chief for the magazine Chic: New York to discreetly find a valuable diamond that went missing from a photo shoot. To make things even more difficult, Cazzie has been sent taunting and threatening text messages concerning the diamond.
As Axelle was trying to solve the case she also had to deal with the riddles the thief had sent to Cazzie as a way for her to get the diamond back.
With her schedule packed with modeling stuff (this is the part of being a undercover model that she dreads), Axelle got some help from her friend/soon to be boyfriend Sebastian and her good friend (who's a model) Ellie to try to figure out everything.
This book has a Nancy Drew vibe to it, with Axelle being a smart and independent girl who has a love for solving mysteries. As much as she dislikes modeling, it's the only way she can get access to fashion mysteries.
I like this, it was a lighthearted, fast-paced, well-written story that was fun to read. Filled with tons of fashion, an interesting mystery, and a little romance, this was a great introduction (for me, since I have not read the first book) to the series.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this series, including giving the first book a read.
