Review:

This probably wouldn't be the usual book that I would read such as advice given on how to be a socialite. The three authors (although a majority of the book was written by Kitty Brucknell) gives advice from fashion and beauty to party planning tips that could propel you through the ranks of the socialites. However, I do have some what similar types of lifestyle books sitting on my shelf which include: Allure: Confession of a Beauty Editor by Linda Wells, Cosmo's Sexiest Beauty Secrets by Cosmopolitan, Freakin' Fabulous by Clinton Kelly and The Busy Girl's Guide to Looking Great by Caroline Jones.

But unlike those books I mentioned above which were informative, Are You On The List? is what I really hate to refer to as a superficial read but that's what this felt like. The best parts of this book were written by Olivia Cox and Lewis-Duncan Weedon (where they described similar things from social manners, networking and career advice) but even that was just okay. While the remainder of the book felt like complete rubbish. Picking up the latest fashion magazine will give you pretty much the same information that's in this book.

I haven't bought any lifestyles books in a while (mainly because I like to figure things out myself) but lately I have seen a few that have caught my eye but sad to say this isn't one of them. This was not very interesting with the information and advice being rather disappointing.

Side note: This book which is geared towards young adults contains cocktail recipes however this is British based and the legal drinking age over there is 18 which of course it's not in the US. I just thought this was something that was worth mentioning.
