TV: Special Olympics World Games

I just finished watching the ESPN coverage of the Special Olympics World Games and it make me mad that there is only 30 minutes of airtime available to cover it. Why only a half hour? I don't understand how there is no time available to live broadcast the events. Do they really need to air all of those rebroadcasts of SportsCenter?

I find it interesting that the opening ceremony which aired Saturday evening was given hours of coverage but the actual sporting events are not being shown. You don't find out about the events until you watch the allotted 30 minute daily special at 7:00 PM EST on ESPN.

The Special Olympics is fantastic and inspiring not just for the athletes competing but for everyone and it would be nice if this was given the coverage that it deserved.

Has anyone else been watching the Special Olympics World Games? What do you think of it?
