Book Review: Nancy Drew: The Case of the Lost Song

Book: The Case of the Lost Song (Nancy Drew book #162) by Carolyn Keene

Edition: Paperback

Rating: 4 stars

Review:

Nancy Drew can't go anywhere without finding herself in the middle of a mystery. In The Case of the Lost Song, Nancy with her two best friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne traveled to Chicago for the antique show, Old Can Be Gold to see if some of their possessions were treasures or not.

Nancy and Bess' items didn't pan out but George's old tape recorder had an unexpected find. One of the appraisers found an old reel of tape that featured an old music session of a famous rock group. The tape if it turned out to authentic would be extremely valuable.

They were staying with Lisa Perrone, one of Bess' friends, who was interning for Old Can Be Gold. Nancy and the girls went out to a party however that proved to be a bad call because when they returned to Lisa's apartment, George's tape recorder was missing.

The missing recorder was only the tip of the iceberg, Nancy soon found out that other items have been stolen from people who had visited the antique show. The thefts occurred around the country and the police haven't been able to find any leads.

Fast-paced and exciting to read, I enjoyed this because the mystery had plenty of clues and suspects. Something that surprised me was how much Bess hindered Nancy's mystery solving in this one. She just couldn't believe the guy she was interested in could be a suspect or the possibility that Lisa was also a suspect. By now shouldn't Bess know Nancy includes everyone as a suspect until she's rules them out.

I have a few more of these updated Nancy Drew books, I can't wait to read them.
