In Remembrance: Kenny Baker

It's so sad to hear about the death of Kenny Baker, he died at the age of 81. He was best known for his portrayal of R2-D2 in the Star Wars films. In honor of Baker I wanted to post this beautiful artwork below by Jason Juta. Baker has portrayed the little astromech droid since the first Star Wars movie A New Hope, which was released in 1977. According to reports, Baker had been suffering from an illness.

In a statement released by his niece, Abigail Shield, she said: "It was expected, but it's sad nonetheless. He had a very long and fulfilled life. He brought lots of happiness to people and we'll be celebrating the fact that he was well loved throughout the world. We're all very proud of what he achieved in his lifetime."

Star Wars were not the only movies Baker starred in, he was also in the cult classic The Goonies. I believe that Kenny Baker will be missed by fans all over the world and even perhaps in a galaxy, far, far away. RIP Mr. Baker.
