Tim Drake Tuesday: Two Must Read Robin Books

Tim Drake is one of my favorite characters and the New 52 introduced new readers to him, unfortunately it perhaps wasn't the best version shown. Thankfully DC Comics has started republishing the older issues of the Robin series featuring Tim. Now, this is a Tim Drake you want to read about, his intelligence and his ability to think on his feet make him a great addition to the Bat Family.

For new comic book fans interested in reading more about Tim Drake here are the first two volumes of Robin to get you started. I hope after reading these two books that Tim will end up becoming one of your favorite characters as well.

Book: Robin volume #1: Reborn (issues Batman #455-457, Detective Comics #618-621, and Robin #1-5) by Chuck Dixon and various writers and artists

Description:

After discovering Batman’s identity, Tim Drake must now endure months of intensive physical training before he can publicly debut as the Caped Crusader’s new partner. Given an all-new hi-tech costume and the encouragement of former Robin Dick Grayson, Tim is finally ready to don the identity he was born for: Robin! But when his parents are kidnapped by the Obeah Man will Batman be able to save them or will tragedy find Tim Drake?

Then, Robin must survive a final baptism by fire as he travels overseas to learn martial arts from one of the world’s greatest fighters—the deadly Lady Siva. Flying solo for the first time, he comes across a diabolical plot by Batman’s old enemy King Snake and must prove that he is worthy of the mantle of Robin!

Book: Robin volume #2: Triumphant (issues Batman #465, 467-469, Robin II #1-4 and Robin III #1-6) by Chuck Dixon and various writers and artists

Description:

Tim Drake is the latest teenager to take up the mantle of Robin, and now he makes his debut as the Caped Crusader’s crime-fighting partner on the streets of Gotham City! He must confront the return of his first major adversary, King Snake, who is trying to build a drug empire in Gotham. Luckily, he has both Batman and the mysterious Huntress to aid him.

But the Boy Wonder will have to face his greatest challenge alone, when the Joker escapes from Arkham Asylum and the Dark Knight is nowhere to be found. The Clown Prince of Crime will be Tim’s baptism by fire—will it end in tragedy or triumph?
