TV Round Up: Teen Wolf S6 Ep 13: After Images

In this episode, Scott McCall and some of his pack (Malia Tate and Liam Dunbar) along with Brett Talbot's sister Lori Rohr were in the woods trying to track down Brett before the hunters do. They had no idea who was after Brett they assumed it was an amateur hunter but it was much worse.

I can see why Teen Wolf brought back the evil hunter Gerard Argent for 6B because there is nothing worse than the human monster. And this time he has a new protégé, Tamora Monroe, Beacon Hills Guidance Counselor. She has a job were she's supposed to guide and protect students that is unless they're supernatural then she has no problem killing them.

While Scott, Malia, Liam and Lori went from searching the woods to searching the tunnels, Lydia Martin, Mason Hewitt and Corey Bryant were at school trying to see if any of Lydia's Banshee predictions could help find Brett. Needing to be alone to decipher the meaning behind her notes, Mason and Corey left her to go to the school library to study but their studying was interrupted by weird and slightly unhinged fellow student Nolan. In his quest to uncover the supernatural, Nolan stabbed Corey's hand and then exposed the fact Corey had immediately healed to the room full of students. There was no way that Mason and Corey could explain that away. Unfortunately, Lydia was too late in understanding her predictions and now the other students were looking at them in fear as well as starting to question perhaps all the strange things they most likely ignored in the past.

The search for Brett in the tunnels proved to be extremely difficult. And with Scott out of commission due to being injured from one of Gerard's traps that left Liam and Lori to go search for Brett with Malia staying behind to help Scott. Liam and Lori found Brett but they had no idea that there was a bigger plan at play which brought about a devastating ending.

I don't understand why Scott has not been training his pack, they were so ill prepared. Did he forget that there are always going to be hunters? Did the prospect of leaving for college lull him into a false sense of security? Scott has a responsibility to prepare his pack for any potential threat even more so since he (along with Lydia and Malia) will be leaving. What I like about Scott is he has this willingness to protect but I feel like he failed to pass down his knowledge and preparedness to Liam, Mason and Corey. They will be the ones (if they survive) to protect the town after he leaves and will need to be able to handle anything that goes after them. Especially now since the supernatural world has been exposed.

The funny thing about this series is that all the time while Derek Hale was still in Beacon Hills he tried to make sure Scott was prepared to take on any potential threat. As well as have Scott truly understand the hatred that many hunters had for werewolves and other supernatural beings. Unfortunately in the beginning Scott didn't trust Derek and treated him as if he was the villain instead of an ally. He missed so much key information that truly would be helpful in their current situation all because he couldn't see pass his negative perception of Derek. He did eventually see Derek as a friend and ally but it was later on. I would say that even Scott's best friend Stiles Stilinski had tried to instil in him that the pack needed to be prepared as well as not trusting everyone. But Scott didn't listen to him, no one ever really does listen to Stiles until they are right in the middle of trouble and need his help trying to get out of it.

Aside from the search and the school stuff, Scott's mother Melissa and former hunter Chris Argent were trying to figure out how a grotesque body that was found in last week's episode was possibly enhancing or causing fear. The show is still working on introducing the romance angle between Melissa and Chris and I think these two work so well together.

I also like that the show is gradually introducing the romance between Malia and Scott. Even though these are the last ten episodes I really didn't want their romance/relationship to feel rushed. And all these little moments between them over the first three episodes of 6B have been fun to watch especially since we know where it might be heading.

The ending of this episode was so sad and it made me angry because with racists like Gerard and Tamora, they don't see anyone who is not like them as human. It doesn't matter if Brett and his sister Lori were supernatural beings (werewolves) they were still teenagers (who didn't do anything wrong) and didn't deserve what happened to them. As I said, nothing is worse than the Human Monster.
