Review:

This issue included two really good stories:

Story #1: Comic Convention Card Tricks by Sholly Fisch, illustration by Dave Alvarez, colors by Candace Schinzler-Bell and letters by Saida Temofonte

When Velma, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby attended the Mega-Pop Con they were only expecting to enjoy a little bit of geek culture. Instead they find a mystery that's centered around the Monster Mania Tournament Velma is in. Monsters are terrorizing the convention but with Velma completely distracted, can the rest of the gang solve the mystery without her?

Humor and hijinks ensue as Fred tries to get a collectables obsessed Daphne and a scared Shaggy and Scooby to help him find clues. But even he became a little preoccupied when he spotted an actor from his favorite TV show.

Even though Velma was focused on her game, a random comment helped her realize that something was totally off about the monsters. Giving her the information they needed to solve the case.

Story #2: The Night Marchers by Michael Kraiger, illustration by Scott Neely, colors by Paul Becton, color separations by SNO-CONE and letters by Rob Leigh

The gang traveled to Hawaii so Velma could attend the Conference on Polynesian Paranormal Phenomena but also for a mini vacation. Thanks to Daphne's father's association with the real estate developer, Mr. Ratch, the gang was staying in luxury accommodations. Too bad Mr. Ratch is a total grump but they're not going to let him ruin their stay.

As the gang attended the conference luau, Velma noticed a cold and unfriendly demeanor between Mr. Ratch and the conference keynote speaker Richard Moloki. On their way back to the hotel, after staying late to enjoy more of the luau's delicious food, Shaggy and Scooby run into a group of marching ancient Polynesian ghosts.

Fred, Daphne and Velma went back to investigate but didn't find any clues. However, the next day Velma, Fred and Daphne each found on separate occasions information or clues that would come in handy in trying to solve the case. Going back to investigate the ghostly site revealed a truth about the ghosts and giving the gang an idea on how they can help fix a problem.

As usual the artwork for this series is great and the writing for both stories was excellent. I like that with only two stories featured in this issue there was more time for the mystery to be unveiled. I enjoyed the first story because as crazy and chaotic as conventions are, I think it's a great setting for a mystery. This story was filled with plenty of humor and zany scares.

I like that the second story incorporated an interesting mystery with Polynesian culture. And the story kind of reminded me of the original animated series "Scooby-Doo! Where Are You?" because like the series it had a dramatic yet still humorous feel to it.
