Is anyone else planning on watching the Supernatural spin-off series Wayward Sisters? I'm so behind on watching Supernatural that I don't even know who the characters are who will be getting this potential spin-off. I have watched Supernatural off and on throughout the 13 seasons but the last time I watched a complete season was back in season 4. In an effort to get caught up, I ordered seasons 5-11 back in May. I'm still not sure when I will find the time for a re-watch but I will.
Anyway, as soon as Supernatural returns from its mid-season break on January 18th (8pm EST on the CW), it will air the 10th episode titled "Wayward Sisters". The episode will be a back-door pilot for the spin-off with it following Claire (Kathryn Newton), a supernatural hunter who heads back home to Sioux Falls, S.D. where she reunites with old friends: Jody (Kim Rhodes), Alex (Katherine Ramdeen) and Donna (Briana Buckmaster). And she also meets two new faces: Patience (Clark Backo), a psychic and Kaia (Yadira Guevara-Prip), a dreamwalker. They end up forming a ragtag team to fight the supernatural, the only problem is Claire's not sure she want to be a part of a team. She prefers to be out there on her own.
Despite not knowing who any of these characters are, this does seem interesting. In the past, Supernatural has not always done a great job in how they treated some of the female characters (and not to mention people of color but that's a post for another day). So, I'm hoping this potential series which will have an all-female and diverse supernatural team will be well thought out and well-written and that it's every bit as clever and interesting (if not even more so) as the original series.
I will be tuning in to see the pilot because I want to see how good or bad it will be. Are you going to be watching it?
