Do Reviews for Older Books Matter?

Something that really annoys me is when I hear that the only book reviews that matter are for new releases. But I think that's ridiculous because not every reader is looking for books that are newly released. I always wonder why publishers don't do more to promote older books. Why place all of their focus on new releases? I know the answer to that question and it's money. New releases bring in more money for publishers than older books. But wouldn't it make sense to also promote those books as well.

Which is why I think book bloggers should be given more appreciation because many of us are reading, reviewing and promoting books that are not new releases. These reviews matter because they are helping readers potentially find a book that might interest them even if it's not the latest release. Reviews for older books shouldn't be disregarded because shouldn't the goal be to promote books no matter if they are new or old.

I love new releases and all the excitement that surrounds them which is why I try to buy as many of them that I can. However, I would like to encourage readers to not only support new releases but older books as well. The excitement should not only be for new books but for books in general. You never know when you might find your new favorite book, it could be something recently released or published years ago.
