Rory Gilmore, Not Your Average Teenager

Rory Gilmore was not the typical teenage girl that was usually shown during many of the early 2000s TV shows. While in high school, she wasn't trying to be popular, nor was she fashionable (that didn't happen until she went to college) and adding to that was her love of reading and learning. She was a fun quirky little weirdo that stood out among the genre of teen girls for instance I still can't get over the evening she had planned for herself in the Gilmore Girls episode "There's the Rub" (season 2 episode 16).

In that episode, Rory's mother Lorelai was going to a spa leaving Rory with the house all to herself. Which is something most teens would often dream of having but instead of planning a big party or having anyone come over, she planned to have an evening of doing her laundry, ordering Indian takeout, watching TV and going to bed early. This is not the usual plans for a teenager that's home alone, she was so over joyed by the prospect of doing laundry which is something that I have never seen especially from a teenager.

Rory was already in her pajamas happily folding her laundry while ordering her takeout when Paris Geller, the first of her three unexpected guests, stopped by. The only reason Paris showed up was she had a desperate need to study and despite being one of the most prepared and smartest students at their high school she had an irrational fear that she was going to fail. The next to show up was Jess Mariano who brought over a box of food for Rory from his Uncle Luke's diner. Meanwhile her boyfriend Dean Forester wanted to stop by to drop off some ice cream.

The evening did not end up the way she intended but nevertheless it turned out to be an entertaining night. Which is something I consider to be typical for Rory because things have a way of going wrong but still works out in the end.
