I never understood why the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling are one of the most banned books in America and have been for the past 21 years. Thanks to those books there are so many children who grew to love reading. These are some of the most beloved books for a reason and that's because they contain wonderfully written and imaginative stories and characters with a central theme of good vs evil with Harry Potter, his friends and more trying to stop the evil wizard Voldemort and his minions.
What I love about reading is that it makes you think and question things which is most likely why many of the books that are banned are even on the list. I never understood how books can be banned based on someone else's assumption of the stories. As with most things, books are subjective meaning that what one reader may love another may not and a book shouldn't be banned because someone doesn't like it or because they believe as in the case of Harry Potter that the books are promoting witchcraft or the occult.
I really feel like there is no reason why the Harry Potter books should be banned. It's a fantasy series not nonfiction and the only thing it's trying to promote is a good story.
