I don't think it surprised anyone when it was revealed in Thor: Ragnarok that Dr. Jane Foster and Thor were no longer together. Those two had absolutely zero romantic chemistry and their relationship ending was the best thing that could have happened to them.
As much as I like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Thor and Jane Foster, I was not disappointed that they were over. There was no way that lackluster romance could have progressed and having them break up was a good way to give both characters a fresh start.
Prior to Thor: Ragnarok being released, it was announced that Jane wasn't going to appear in the movie and after watching it, I couldn't imagine any where her character could have been featured in it anyway. Her chapter in Thor's life had ended and I was okay with that because I see this version of Jane continuing to focus on her work as an astrophysicist where she was probably starting to find herself too busy to focus on her relationship with Thor. While Thor was most likely preoccupied with trying to stop the visions he was having about Ragnarok destroying Asgard leaving little time to focus on their relationship.
This was a couple most likely heading in two different directions instead of growing together. Which is why I do believe Jane would have broken up with him because as an analytical person, I believe she came to the decision that it was better for their relationship to end instead of it being dragged out. She knew that it was not working for either of them and made the decision to end it.
What do you think, would Jane have broken up with Thor in Thor: Ragnarok?
