Book Club Picks for May: Eat, Pray, Love and The Cartoon Life of Chuck Clayton

It's the start of May and that means new book club picks.

For The Book Girl's Book Club, we will be reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Since spring is about new beginnings, I thought this book, according to the description, would be perfect for the season.

As for the Comic Book Club, I picked The Cartoon Life of Chuck Clayton by Alex Simmons and Fernando Ruiz because I thought it would be a fun read as Chuck tries to teach students about comic books.

The Book Girl's Book Club Pick:

Book: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Description:

In her early thirties, Elizabeth Gilbert had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want—husband, country home, successful career—but instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she felt consumed by panic and confusion. This wise and rapturous book is the story of how she left behind all these outward marks of success, and of what she found in their place. Following a divorce and a crushing depression, Gilbert set out to examine three different aspects of her nature, set against the backdrop of three different cultures: pleasure in Italy, devotion in India, and on the Indonesian island of Bali, a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.

The Comic Book Club Pick:

Book: The Cartoon Life of Chuck Clayton by Alex Simmons with illustrations by Fernando Ruiz

Description:

Join him for a wild ride where life imitates art, and the other way around. The world's about to see that anything is possible in..."The Cartoon Life of Chuck Clayton"!
