Comic Book Wednesday: May 8th Picks

How much time do you usually spend in the comic book store? Do you like to get your books and leave? Or do you like to spend some time roaming through the store seeing what else you can find as well as having a quick conversation with the store owner or employees?

I guess for me, it depends on how I'm feeling, sometimes if it's been a long day and I'm tired I really just want to get my books and go. However, usually I like to spend more time going through the store. That's how I end up finding some interesting collectibles or old books. I recently found an old 1990's The New Batman Adventures animated series Harley Quinn action figure in mint condition. I'll post it soon for Toy Corner.

Well, however you like to spend your time at the comic book store, what books are you picking up this week? I don't have anything new on my list but I do need to get caught up on reading some of my books, I'm still a little behind.

DC Comics

Catwoman #11

Book: Catwoman #11

Description:

Asking the question, 'Who is Selina Kyle?' has gotten folks hurt in the past...but this time it's Selina asking about herself. Meanwhile, the disgraced Creel family are marshalling their resources to make a return to Villa Hermosa and claw their way back to the top.

Detective Comics #1003

Book: Detective Comics #1003

Description:

Damian was so certain he could succeed against the Arkham Knight where his father failed-and not only was he wrong, but as it turns out, the Knight has a surprising plan for the son of Batman!

Shazam #5

Book: Shazam #5

Description:

In the latest chapter of 'Shazam and the Seven Magic Lands,' the kids visit the Gamelands, a colorful world of races and games where all that matters are your high scores! But as good as Pedro and Eugene are with their arcade cred, can they score high enough to survive it?

Book: Wonder Woman #70

Description:

Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor and the goddess of love, Aphrodite, are pretty sure they've found Aphrodite's missing son in this unremarkable suburban town-the fact that everyone here is compulsively driven to act on their secret desires is an awfully big clue! But if they actually want to talk to him, they'll have to get through a flying army of...attack cherubs?!

Marvel Comics

Captain America #10

Book: Captain America #10

Description:

CAPTAIN OF NOTHING continues!

A prison riot is the best possible cover to break Captain America out of confinement - but what if the Star-Spangled Avenger doesn't want to go?

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #44

Book: The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #44

Description:

WAR OF THE REALMS TIE-IN!

The other nine realms have fallen, Earth is under attack and the only one who can save us is DOREEN GREEN, A.K.A. THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL.

So that's terrific. We're in great hands and don't need to worry at all! Phew.

Or at least we would be, if it weren't for the complicating factor of an ancient Asgardian Squirrel Chaos God who's decided she wants to be...FRIENDS??

In this issue, Squirrel Girl and Ratatoskr fight Frost Giants...and their unspoken assumptions about each other!

This arc is a 'WAR OF THE REALMS' TIE-IN, but it's also an awesome stand-alone story that you don't need to be reading all the other comics to get!

Don't tell Marvel.
