Review:

The Mystery at Lilac Inn finds Nancy Drew in a peculiar investigation when she and her friend Helen Corning visited their friend Emily Willoughby and Emily's Aunt Hazel at the Lilac Inn. Emily and her fiancé Dick Farnham had purchased the inn with plans to run it as a resort.

Nancy found out from Emily that the inn has been plagued with various mishaps and problems and the trouble only intensified with Nancy and Helen's arrival. This wasn't the only issue, Nancy found out that not only had someone broke into her home back in River Heights and stole a few items from her bedroom but there was also someone impersonating her and racked up a large bill in her name.

The problems at the inn continued with Emily's diamonds being stolen. It's devastating because Emily was planning to sell some of the gems to help cover some of the inn's expenses. With Nancy investigating the problems at the inn and trying to track down her impostor, she was going to need all of her investigative skills in order to find out who committed the crimes.

This story had a lot of drama and suspense with Nancy (and occasionally Helen) facing danger every step of the way of the investigation. This was an exciting story with a riveting mystery, it's always interesting to read some of the earlier Nancy Drew books where she's not perhaps at the top of her game, in regards to investigating. It took her a while to notice some clues that were rather obvious. As much as I enjoyed reading this, I did have a problem with a large amount of info dumping during one scene. It was just too much information that was being revealed and it would have been better if Nancy had uncovered some of the information during her investigation. Aside from that, this was a pretty good read.
