Book Girl Thoughts: Why are Companies Ruining Books in Memes to Promote their Product?

I don't understand this current meme of companies suggesting the use of food if you don't have a bookmark. I've seen quite a few of these ridiculous memes which I posted below from Oreo Cookie, Chex Mix, Vitamin Water, Gushers and Pluckers Wing Bar and I'm sure more will follow. I really don't get the joke of ruining books to promote a product or business especially since there are so many different ways to promote something.

As a bookworm, I think books are wonderful and this type of meme of destroying them for laughs, likes and promotion makes me lose interest in ever wanting to purchase their products.
