Her character changed so much over the years, I find it interesting how the writers have continued to reimagine Harley. There is much more focus on her as a complex character shifting back and forth between her past as a doctor, the Joker's girlfriend and a villain to her present as an anti-hero/hero along with her relationship with Poison Ivy.
As a fan, it's exciting that Harley is going to be in the Birds of Prey movie (presumably as the main character). Even on the chance that the movie is disappointing (I'm hoping it won't be), I can't help but be happy at seeing how her character has progressed from her initial debut in Batman: The Animated Series to where she is now.
I know we are at the point where DC Comics has oversaturated Harley Quinn, she's pretty much everywhere and not to mention in some comic books she has been turned into a deadpool clone, which a lot of fans are not happy about. However, it's still amazing that she went from being a new character to becoming an absolute phenomenon.
