9-1-1's Ravi Panikkar really thinks the A-shift is weird

Hey everyone, happy Wednesday!

For some reason, I was thinking about firefighter Ravi Panikkar from the show 9-1-1. Since his first appearance in the episode Jinx, he has quickly become one of my favorite (albeit recurring) characters. He's just such a delightful person who is simply happy being himself. I just love that. But what I was thinking about is, I was wondering if whenever he hangs out with his non-firefighter friends does his ever just talk about how weird his co-workers are on A-shift? Sometimes Ravi makes me think of Alice from Alice in Wonderland because when he went from B-shift to A-shift, he found himself in a strange world filled with weird and interesting people. I doubt his friends would even believe him about all the things his co-workers somehow get themselves into. As nice and wonderful as his A-shift co-workers are they are indeed a group of beloved weirdos.

Ravi's first interaction with A-shift was in the fourth season sixth episode Jinx which brought with it a weird reaction from his co-workers. After he unfortunately said the word "quiet" in response to him being asked about his first shift working B-shift. According to his startled co-workers, that word is cursed which is why it's never said in the fire station. Because again, according to them whenever anyone says that word, it results in them being jinxed with non-stop crazy emergency calls.

In his second appearance in the fourth season episode Treasure Hunt, Ravi was excited about the city wide treasure hunt that author Hollis Harcourt created despite all the emergency calls that B-shift had to go on. I don't even think he realized that Evan "Buck" Buckley and Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz from A-shift were trying to get treasure hunting clues from him. However, in the end, Ravi was the one that found the treasure but the A-shift along with Police Sergeant Athena Grant eventually found it as well. Finding the treasure chest empty had the group heading over to Harcourt's mansion but all they found was the author dead.

Funny thing is, Ravi tried to distance himself from them when they were all being questioned by the police. He said "Yeah. I'm not really with them. I barely know these people.", this comment didn't go over too well with the others. It's probably why he wasn't in the scene where everyone was at Athena Grant and Robert "Bobby" Nash's house for breakfast. After that comment he probably didn't feel comfortable going to breakfast because I highly doubt he wasn't invited especially since TV Reporter Taylor Kelly somehow got invited. And knowing this group they would have jokingly brought up his response at least a few times while they were all eating.

However, I think the longer he's on A-shift the more this crew of misfits has started to grow on him. Throughout the fifth season, Ravi had begun to bond with the team, however, he still doesn't seem like he wants to get too drawn into their wackiness. Because as he told firefighter Lucy Donato in the fifth season 17th episode Hero Complex, "Around here, I find it best not to know.", when she asked him what he thought Henrietta "Hen" Wilson and Howard "Chimney" Han were hiding. That's probably a good philosophy to follow especially if you don't want to constantly be in the middle of chaos like the A-shift seems to always find themselves in.

I really like Ravi Panikkar, I hope to see more of him in the upcoming sixth season and with him continuing to notice how weird the A-shift is.
