Entertainment News #16: Luther, Velma, Harley Quinn and Witches

- I'm excited to hear that Idris Elba will be reprising his popular character John Luther for the upcoming Netflix movie Luther: The Fallen Sun. The movie is scheduled to be released sometime in March 2023. According to reports, the movie is about a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary. Also, appearing in the film is Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley. The movie is written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne.

- The Velma animated series (for adults) will premiere on Thursday, January 12, 2023 on HBO Max. The show was created by Charlie Grandy and Mindy Kaling who is also the voice of Velma Dinkley. The voice cast also includes Frank Welker, Shay Mitchell, Glenn Howerton, Constance Wu and Sam Richardson. I'm not sure about an animated series for adults because I always feel like anything in the Scooby-Doo franchise should be for kids first. But I guess as a Scooby-Doo fan I'll check it out to see if it's at least interesting.

- As for another adult animated series, the fourth season of the Harley Quinn animated series will premiere on HBO Max in 2023. I can't wait to see the fourth season, this has quickly become one of my favorite shows.

- The Mayfair Witches TV series starring Alexandra Daddario is set to premiere on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 9:00 PM EST on all AMC channels. The show is based on The Witching Hour (Lives of Mayfair Witches) book series by Anne Rice. This is one of my most highly anticipated shows and I really hope it will be good.
